When motorisation makes sense
Motorised tracks earn their keep on windows you can't easily reach: double-height glazing, stairwells, windows behind furniture, and long runs of heavy interlined curtains. They also protect the fabric, because nobody is tugging on the leading edge every evening.
Topps completed the product and motorisation course at the Luxaflex Training Academy, and we fit electric systems for straight windows, recesses and many bay windows.

Power: plan it before you decorate
Mains-powered motors need a fused spur close to the head of the window. We tell you exactly where at the survey, so your electrician can run the cable before you plaster or paint. If chasing walls isn't an option, rechargeable battery motors are available for many tracks.
Motorised curtain tracks: common questions
Do I need an electrician?
For a mains motor, yes: a qualified electrician provides the power point and we fit and set up the track and motor. Battery motors don't need new wiring.
Can you motorise my existing curtains?
Usually, if the curtains have a heading that suits the new track. Wave and pinch-pleat curtains both work well. We'll look at them at the survey.
Are motorised curtain tracks noisy?
The systems we fit are designed for bedrooms and living rooms and run quietly. We're happy to tell you which models are quietest for a bedroom.
Will they work with my smart home?
Many motors connect to Alexa and Google Home through the maker's hub or app. Tell us what you already use and we'll recommend a system that works with it.
